Embassy of Canada opens an internship for a student or recent graduate with a good knowledge of Roma affairs

The Embassy of Canada, in cooperation with The Open Society Fund Prague, invites interested candidates among Czech university students and recent graduates to apply for an internship at the Embassy of Canada in Prague. The internship is aimed at young people from a socially disadvantaged environment with a strong knowledge of Roma affairs. The intern will be asked to prepare and implement the Embassy’s Roma advocacy plan as well as work on other tasks.

The purpose of the internship is to provide a young person from a socially disadvantaged environment with an opportunity to obtain work experience in a diplomatic mission and to further develop the Embassy’s Roma advocacy program. “We look forward to working with this intern next spring on our Roma advocacy program and believe that this opportunity will be a valuable experience for a young and motivated Czech eager to obtain an interesting work experience. I am positive that it will also constitute a very useful contribution to the work of our Embassy,” said Canadian Ambassador Otto Jelinek.

“I am very happy that the Embassy of Canada decided to open an internship for a student or recent graduate with a good knowledge of Roma affairs. I believe that the selected candidate will obtain many interesting experiences that will improve their job market position. I also think that this will be a benefit to the Embassy,” said Robert Basch, Executive Director of the Open Society Fund Prague Foundation.

Interested candidates can apply for the internship until November 23 and the selected candidate will work 15 – 20 hours per week at the Embassy from February to April 2016. Language and other requirements are specified in the internship poster that can be found here.
