The river Morávka is an unique example of a natural flow with natural gravel bars.Recent research warns that it might be conversely in near future. There is clear evidence that human activities caused changes in the natural processes of the river. The lack of the alluvial gravels causes recessing of the river basin. This geomorphological trend completely changes the character of the river, together with combination of the stabilization of the existing gravel bars and their gradual overgrowing of vegetation.Additionally, ground water level is decreasing and this fact will affect strongly many residents of the catchment basin, sooner or later. We want to get more information about the risk of a decline in the groundwater basin of the Morávka river (collaboration with the University of Ostrava) and we want to pass these findings to the chairmans of the surrounding villages in Morávka river basin. At the same time we will initiate a meeting with the workers of the Moravian-Silesian region, who will affect watercourse administrators in terms of better strategies.
